A Few Words About Popup Ads This page USED to point to my homepage. But, the bastards at V3 URLS decided to put Popup Ads on everyone's page. So, I cancelled my account, and then opened this one to point here. This is my little rant to protest against Popup Advertising. Popup Ads are totally idiotic! They are a waste of money for advertisers. Most people close a popup ad before the ad finishes loading. So, what is the point? Why bother? One day, Popup Ads will go out of style. They will become Taboo. Just like other things that used to be "cool" on the Internet at one time or another. People will just get sick of them and go elsewhere. But, for now, it's a way for some company to make a quick buck by selling space to the advertisers. They simply tell the advertisers "we receive 10,000 hits per month - ads cost $200". Here is a translation of what they REALLY should be telling them: "We receive 10,000 TOTAL hits per month. This includes images and non-html hits as well. Out of those 10,000 only 350 are actually unique URLS. The majority of the hits are the same people either downloading the same page twice, or clicking around in the site. So, if you include image downloads as "hits", one person who goes to a web site will download 10 web pages (each with 10 images on them). This amounts to approximately 110 "hits" per person. If approximately 90.91 people visit the site - we have 10,000 hits. Oh, and we can't control whether the user actually views your ad or not. We can put it there, but if they are quick, they can usually close the window before your ad even finishes loading." So, until this trend goes away, I will not link to my homepage with people like "V3" URLS because I believe Popup Ads are annoying, and a waste of money and time.
